This appointment resulted in a PhD thesis entitled:
Decomposition and Protocols in High-Level Petri Nets
I mathematically modelled the concept of system behaviour and I investigated under which
conditions a part of the system (a module) can be replaced by another module, such that the
overall system behaviour doesn't change. This is relevant in top-down decomposition. I also
modelled protocols, which are communication patterns between systems, and for a large class
of protocols I gave algorithms to decide whether a system satisfies the protocol.
